Halloween

The coolest holiday in the USA is Halloween. Halloween is only one time during the whole year. Halloween is on October the 31st. On Halloween, you can wear some creepy costumes and some pretty costumes, for example like some people wear witch costumes, ghost costumes, princess costumes, skeleton costumes, and others. After you are all dressed up, you go from house to house by saying “TRICK OR TREAT” and people give you get a lot of candy! It is a really good holiday; I think you will enjoy it also just like I do. Hearing all of this might make you think “I wish Halloween would come soon.”Actually it already passed, so you have to wait until next October.  

Guilford County Schools

         Guilford County Schools is the school system for High Point. When I came to the United States I moved to High Point and I went to GCS Newcomers School to learn how to speak English. The Newcomers School helps new students learn English.  The Newcomer is like family school. In North Carolina school begins in August and finishes in June. Once a student finishes the year at Newcomers then you go to your regular school. I move to Ferndale Middle School. Ferndale is a great school. I have also heard about Guilford Elementary for little kids. It’s great school for kids. I also know about High Point Central High School.  It has a lot of classes. There are 67 elementary schools, 22 middle schools and 26 high schools in Guilford County. There are several awesome schools in Guilford County! Greensboro Grasshoppers

                 One of the fun places to go in Greensboro it to go see the Greensboro Grasshoppers play baseball. They play at New Bridge Bank Park.  A lot of people go to see them play baseball. Some people go to have fun or shop for souvenirs for the game to cheer for the Greensboro Grasshoppers. They also have food like cotton candy popcorn, hotdogs and all kinds of food like that. Kids also have fun there because they have a playground for little kids. To see the Greensboro Grasshoppers it would be about 10 dollars for each adult and kids are less than 10 dollars. Most people like to go to see their friends and to enjoy watching the game. I have been there to see them play baseball on a field trip from school. I saw a few friends from other schools there. We were just walking around looking at the place and we went to shop. Then we got hungry and went to go buy food. We had a lot of fun because my favorite sport is baseball that is one of the reason I suggest new people to go see the Grasshoppers.

High Point Holiday Parade

          An entertaining place to visit is the High Point Holiday Parade. A parade is when spectators stand on the street and watch cars, floats and bands go by. This parade starts the Christmas holiday season. It is held on Main Street and Green Drive. This year it will be on Sunday, November 21, 2010 at 3:00. It starts at Green and Main and ends on Parkway. We have lots of cars and floats. We will also have the 2010 Miss North Carolina. There will be performances by high school marching bands. The parade will be escorted by the High Point Police Department and concluded with Santa Claus. For more information visit http://highpointparade.com/. North Carolina Zoo

       The North Carolina Zoo is located in Asheboro. It is a very fun place to visit and enjoy. The NC Zoo has 1,100 animals.  There are many different kinds of animals from each different continent.  Some examples of the animals are polar bears, lions, and hippopotamus.  The zoo is open 364 days a year; the zoo closes only on Christmas day and during severe weather.  The zoo isn’t free; you must have a ticket to get in. An adult ticket is only $10, for seniors, it is $8, for a child (2-12) $6, and for child under (2) it is free. Pequeno Mexico

Pequeno Mexico is a great Mexican store in High Point. It is located on South Main Street. For all the Hispanic people out there that are looking for a Mexican grocery there is a lot of things like Mexican candy, chile verde, habanero, tostadas, avocado, chile seco, flan and chips. It also has a butcher shop and a restaurant. You can eat inside or outside. The butcher shop has all kinds of meat like pork, chicken, beef, and goat. You can also buy dairy products such things like milk, cheese and yogurt. All Mexicans like fresh cheese. In the restaurant they have several good Mexican dishes like cesadiyas, torta’s, tamales, and cooked meat. It sure is the best place for a Mexican to shop in High Point!

Carowinds

          In North Carolina there are lots of fun places to go. There is one place in Charlotte. Charlotte is a city in North Carolina. It is pretty fun place to visit, but what I am talking about, it is very fun place. It is Carowinds. Carowinds is a very big park in Charlotte. There are lots of roller coasters and other water rides. They also have inside games too, but you have to pay more money for that. Carowinds is in between South and North Carolina. It is very expensive place. The cost of the Carowinds is about $45 to $50 per person. Most of the people look on the Internet to find more information about Carowinds. Carowinds’ website is http://www.carowinds.com; also you can look for prices and new rides. Every year they built about 2 to 3 new rides. Sometimes the schools in North Carolina take field trips to Carowinds. Most people enjoy going to Carowinds. It is the one of the best places in North Carolina.
